How to Relieve Seasonal Allergies

We couldn’t be more excited for spring. The only downfall? Seasonal allergies. While a deep clean can help eliminate triggers, the use of an air purifier is likely to bring a whole new level of relief. Specifically designed to capture fine particles, like pollen, dust mites, mold, and pet dander, air purifiers don’t eradicate your allergies altogether. However, they certainly improve the overall air quality, so you can sneeze a little less and breathe a little easier.

Here are three things to consider before purchasing an air purifier:

How large is the room you’ll be using it in?

Air purifiers range greatly when it comes to how much square footage they can cover. That said, you’ll want to ensure the size of the targeted room and the machine’s reach align.

What allergens does it target?

Create a list of what you’re allergic to and compare it to the allergens the air purifier is designed to specifically tackle. If mold is your go-to trigger, and the air purifier only mentions only pollen and dust mites, it isn’t for you.

What kind of filter does it require?

True HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) filters are widely regarded as the most effective option. They trap an astounding 99.97% of particles that are as tiny as 0.3 microns or smaller.

We’re big fans of AirDoctor, because their air purifiers capture 100% of airborne particles as small as 0.003 microns and circulate the air three times every hour in rooms as large as 900 square feet. They also use a professional-grade air quality sensor to assess the air quality and immediately adjust to the correct level of filtration.

Of course, air purifiers aren’t the only form of allergy relief. For further recommendations, schedule a complimentary consultation with Belinda, our founder, here.
