There’s no denying your omega-3 levels can add to or subtract from your overall lifespan. Luckily, all it takes is a prick of your finger to determine what changes you need to make to achieve the optimal range. I personally completed the Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Lab a few months ago and used my baseline results to make simple nutrition and supplement adjustments that resulted in huge, anti-aging results.

One thing my baseline test measured was my total omega-3 level. Though the U.S. average for total Omega-3 is 4.8%, research has shown that if a person’s blood saturation level of omega-3 measures 9% or higher, their risk of a sudden cardiac event drops by 90%. My initial level was 5.7%, but after making nutritional changes, it rose to 9.7%!

My baseline test also measured my omega-3 HUFA (highly unsaturated fatty acids) level. The optimal percentage of omega-3 in HUFA is greater than 50%, with the U.S. average being 24%. My initial result was 28%, but my follow-up lab showed a great improvement at 42%, reducing my chance of developing heart disease even further.

There are multiple types of omega-3 fatty acids, but the most important are EPA and DHA. Salmon, herring, trout, mackerel, sea bass, and sardines are a great source of both of these. If you’d rather take a supplement, I’d suggest Equilife’s Omega-3 Support. It’s highly effective and comes in both softgel and liquid form.

Below are just some of the symptoms tied to low Omega-3 levels:

  • Depression

  • Inflammation

  • Dry and irritated skin

  • Hair thinning and loss

  • Dry eyes

  • Joint pain or stiffness
